New Tracks Weekend

The week that chaos built. We’ve spent the last week building, rebuilding, polishing and pushing the new Alternative F̷acts compilation, the brainchild of Cory Osborne (Lightfoils/Panda Riot). 11 new and exclusive tracks from the leading lights in shoegaze and dream pop is headline enough. That’s it’s all done for charity only takes it to another level. So it’ll be no shock to you, dear listener, that this full album will be featured heavily in the weeks to come. But we don’t get the only headline this week, as today sees the release of the new Secret Shine LP release on Saint Marie. If you’ve read any of the pre-release write-ups for There Is Only Now, you’re already aware that this is a landmark, and a shining return to form from this amazing group. Simultaneous to these two releases, the debut album from A Thousand Hours (that we had a hand in mastering) also drops today. A dreamy slowcore elegy this is, and if we hadn’t got it on your radar yet, we surely will have before the weekend’s complete.

But it doesn’t stop there. Does it ever? New band crush in these studios is Sooner, from Brooklyn. They sent pre-release of the new EP to help build some buzz, and we buzzed. We’ll spoon-feed these tracks throughout the weekend, and you’ll join the fan club. Plus we get premieres from Crème Fouettée (new Supernova EP released next week!), some gems from Peppermint Showers, a sparkling track from The Northeastern Railroads, we catch up with last weeks Spectres LP, AND, thanks to our friendship with Amber of When The Sun Hits, we’ve got our grubby little mitts on the new Velveteen single. Plus, in honor of the new remaster/reissue of The Beremy Jets on somewherecold records, we’re pulling out all existing masters, and refreshing the library with these freshly polished jewels, In all, we’re overpacked, and unusually so.

And that’s in addition to last week’s pack-ins, including Jay Som, Electro Group, Morning Harvey, Silver Liz, Fun With Ether, Sheer, HYLA, Danxia, Dead Gaze, Lunar Twin, Maheekats, LOZA, Prepare My Glider, LLOLLYANNA and a ton more.

New Tracks Weekend kicks off 8 pm Eastern, 5 pm Pacific, and continuing through Sunday at midnight Eastern, 9 Pacific. It’s the first weekend we’ll spin some of these tracks, and may be the last weekend for some others. Remember, you can listen listen via the station page at DKFM,  on Shoutcast, and on TuneIn Radio for iPhone/Android/Windows. Plus we have our branded apps for Apple’s iOSAndroid and Blackberry. Or load up the “Internet Radio” tab of your iTunes desktop client, and you’ll find DKFM Shoegaze Radio under ‘Alternative’. You can even keep up with the new tracks and artists you may have missed: we’re live-scrobbling via our last.fm profile, and live-tweeting every track on our sub-Twitter DKFMTracks account. Now you’ll know what you heard, or catch up on what you missed. Keep up with our new Facebook group for real-time discussions of what you’ve heard, and sound off!

And, as always, thanks for listening, and thank you for your support!

Epic. It’s a huge weekend for us, as we pack in a wealth of music for the weekend. Some brand new, some that we were blissfully ignorant of until this week. For instance, Electro Group. They’ve been churning out compelling music off and on for nearly two decades, and we only heard about them following this new release? That’s our failing. Sacramento’s Electro Group may have their influences clearly stamped, but the songs themselves are purely original and compelling. Unsurprisingly, we’ll go deep with the new LP as well as turn-of-the-century releases. Then there’s Morning Harvey. We remember being early adopters of this Aussie band when they were busting out, but then we lost track. Now we have an opportunity to catch up. But, speaking of new-new, we’d be remiss to miss the new LP from Jay Som (recently covered by Putzfork, but we won’t hold that against Melina & Co.). We’re ridiculously keen on the new double-single from Silver Liz, equally torrid and lilting. And that’s a thing. Plus we’re turned on to the debut from South Texas’ Fun With Ether, perfectly molded and ready to shine. And we’re rich with new singles from Sheer, HYLA, Danxia, Dead Gaze, Lunar Twin, Maheekats, A Thousand Hours, LOZA, LLOLLYANNA, Secret Shine, Prepare My Glider and MUCH more. Plus we’ll catch up with Diet Cig, Lazyeyes, Our Girl and a cast of many. So much stuff to stuff!

That only adds to last weekend’s new freshness, including Fawns of Love, Whimsical, Ride, Babaganouj, No Vacation, Daysee, Slowly, Life on Venus, The Mites, Delay Trees, 93MillionMilesFromTheSun, Sleepwalk, The Wrecking Queens, Excuses for Skipping, VENN, Froth, Novella… all of the songs, all of the time.

Just when we thought it would be a quiet(er) weekend, fewer new materials released… boom. Much new load-in, much new sparkle. We’re (unsurprisingly) heavily featuring Who Cares About Tomorrow, the new full album from Fawns of Love. We had the distinct pleasure of mastering the final product, and it shines like we knew it would. The new single from Ride beats back most new releases. Two new singles from Brisbane’s Babaganouj rock our socks off. No Vacation returns with a new single, and while personnel changes may have dulled the intensity, hasn’t impacted their tunefulness. New music from Daysee will bend your ears and your knees. New single from Slowly sparkles, as does the new album from Moscow’s Life on Venus. No clue how we’d missed new music from The Mites several weeks back, as we’ve been the ones pushing them for years now. Oversight corrected, we’ll remind you why they rock our pasty little souls. Brand new Delay Trees on deck, plus the epic new EP from 93MillionMilesFromTheSun, grabbed as soon as released. The first singles from the new Sleepwalk LP, Shimmer on tap. Bundled in two stellar tracks from The Wrecking Queens that demand your attention. Plus, we reach back into the archive for some classics from Excuses for Skipping, taking a turn in our rotation. Full packed.

Let’s not forget last weekend’s freshness, including Whimsical, No Joy, Funeral Advantage, Kindling, VENN, King Woman, Froth, Novella, Jay Som, Violentene, Hexagrams, Glasz, Galaxina, Starwheel, The Age of Colored Lizards, Folder, and December Flowers. All of the songs, all of the now.

Everything came out this week (or, today). No, really. Don’t know if you’d marked this date on your calendar, we sure hadn’t. But the heavens opened up, and spilled all these new releases all over us. An embarrassment of tuneage. New EPs from No Joy, Funeral Advantage, Kindling, and VENN. All that, this week. New LPs from Whimsical, King Woman and Froth. All that, this week. Plus we (finally) catch up with the new Novella LP, and trot out sparkly new tracks from Jay Som, Violentene, Hexagrams, Glasz, Galaxina, Starwheel, The Age of Colored Lizards, Folder, and the Soundcloud-only headliners (pictured above), December Flowers. All of the new, all this week.

That’s not to neglect last weekend’s new adds, including The Beremy Jets, Teen Divorce, The Death of Pop, Pure Morning, Малыш Камю, White Tulips, Tall Pines, Daydream Cathedral, Seventeen Years, Terry vs. Tori, Shady Elders, Black Veils, Fawns of Love, highandfragile, Candace, Todavia, The Soft Spots, Schroeder, Wozniak, My Pet Genius, and TBTCI Records’ impressive Slowdive compilation. We’re truly over-booked.

Overbooked, yes we are. Because, so much, so now. Anchoring the weekend is the new tribute to Slowdive from the venerable TBTCI Records. Renato has put together an all-star cast of awesomes, putting forth their best homage. Hey, we even mastered one of the tracks! We’re also pushing the newest and greatest from The Beremy Jets, who may well have put out the EP of the year thus far. Hard to see who else is in competition with this bit of gold. But there’s so much more fresh material! Teen Divorce EP dropped today, as did the new Wintergaze compilation out of Russia. New singles from The Death of Pop and Pure Morning shine. New Малыш Камю reminds us why they’re a rotation staple. New White Tulips, new Tall Pines, new Daydream Cathedral, new Seventeen Years, new Terry vs. Tori, new Shady Elders, new Black Veils, new Fawns of Love, new highandfragile, new Candace, a sneak peek at the forthcoming Todavia single, plus recent classics from The Soft Spots and Schroeder. Cherry on top? New woozy Wozniak single that confirms their stature as the band to watch in 2017. And if that wasn’t enough, we have a throwback wayback from My Pet Genius that reminds you how the classics still hold us in thrall today. Have we forgotten stuff? Probably. We’re trying to load it all in on the fly, bear with us!

Of course we’re still pushing D.C.’s Venn until they become breakout stars. as well as Los Marcianos, Surf Curse, Hariguem Zaboy, Chillindra, Moth to the Flame, All in the Golden Afternoon, Bliss Wrecks, the stellar Visiting Diplomats, Orchin, Housing Crash, Battery Point, Vansire, Exiles, Fazerdaze and more. We’re booked solid.

Overpacked again. We’re shoveling as much new music into a weekend as we can, and it’s a fully international effort. We’re long on three new LPs: Los Marcianos, Surf Curse, and Hariguem Zaboy. If we stopped there, good enough for government work. But that’s not us. We’ve got new music from Chilindra, Moth to the Flame, All in the Golden Afternoon, Bliss Wrecks, Visiting Diplomats, Orchin, Housing Crash, Battery Point, Vansire, Fawns of Love, Crumb, Exiles, Fazerdaze, and the station’s newest bandcrush, D.C.’s brilliantly textured Venn, brought to our attention by Amber and When The Sun Hits. Slip slide away with us, we’ve got you, and won’t let you crash.

But that’s not all! We’re still pushing LLLL, The Stargazer Lilies, Blonde Tongues, Andrew Younker, Dot Dash, Blue Bombay, Moon Loves Honey, Fools Ferguson, Human Colonies, Citrus Clouds, Soft Lashes, Manorlady, Cherry Crush, Monster Movie, Sadfields, The Churchill Garden and Walking Misery. As usual, more music than time.

SO packed, much new, very reverb. That’s what our weekend is like, how about yours? We’ve got today’s freshly birthed single from Tokyo’s LLLL, out now on the Zoom Lens label. We’ve got The Stargazer Lilies’ Part Time Punks Session, but ours is ‘goosed’, in the way only we can, for maximum impact (nobody else has this version!). The sparkling new LP from Blonde Tongues, Safe Like Silk In Polyester Sheets. We’ll go deep with that, too. Need more new? We’ve got Andrew Younker’s just-released LP of dreamy confections, plus Dot Dash, Blue Bombay, Fawns of Love’s new single, Moon Loves Honey, Fools Ferguson (three impressive courses you haven’t heard yet!), new music from Human Colonies, Citrus Clouds, Soft Lashes, Manorlady, the return of Cherry Crush, plus Monster Movie’s new single (full album preorders now), Sadfields, The Churchill Garden, Walking Misery… surely there’s more we’ve forgot!

Add to that last weekend’s fresh treasures, including The Cherry Wave, Tangible Rays, Devilish Dear, Rayning, Sonic Visions, Movie Brian, Vlimmer, Project Diem, L-space, Doodle, and Lucky+Love. Packed, I tell you.

We inaugurate the weekend with the brightest and freshest new sounds available to us. This may be the only inauguration you’ll want to attend. We kick off with the long awaited full LP from SLC’s No Sun, out today on The Native Sound. We’ve also got hands round the rest of the new release from Taiwan’s Manic Sheep, so we’ll obviously go deep with that. The new EP from Good Personalities (#6 track of 2016) releases Saturday, but we’ll shovel it into rotation as soon as it’s available to us. We’ve got the new singles from Rayning, Snowball II, The Cherry Wave, SPC ECO, Funeral Advantage, The Poetry Book, A Thousand Hours, Daysee, Kyros, Plus we’ll catch up with LA dreampoppers Shyla Buff, and Liverpool’s Sunstack Jones. And, unsurprisingly, we’re spooling out individual gems from TBTCI Records’ My Bloody Valentine compilation. Unsurprisingly. If you haven’t checked it out yet, you owe yourself this.

Of course we’re still heavy spinning last weekend’s new jewels, including (ahem) Slowdive, Great Black Night, Jay Som, Did You Die, Plaza, Singapore Sling, Fake Flowers, PURS, Collapse, Antiphons, Purepleaser, Horsefish, Suburban Living, 雨の中の馬 and more.

It’s Friday the 13th as we write this, yet we see it as a day to celebrate. For instance, who knew the new Slowdive single was in the pipeline, and released just yesterday? If you’re looking for something special about this new year, that’s sure to kick it off right. So of course we’re showcasing the new Slowdive single, “Star Roving”, but we’re also heavily into the new release from Great Black Night, which somehow got past our radar on initial release. Given the impressiveness of their sound, we’re making up for that miss at double speed. We’ve got hands on the new singles from Jay Som, Did You Die, Plaza, Singapore Sling, Fake Flowers, PURS, plus the new EP from rotation staples COLLAPSE, select tracks from TBTCI’s Red-Shoegaze compilation, dream jangle from Antiphons, grunge-inflected haze from 雨の中の馬, plus Purepleaser, Russia’s HORSEFISH, and we take a deep dive into the recent LP from Suburban Living.

We’ve packed all this material into a sprawling weekend’s programming, including last weekend’s treats from Lazy Legs, This Social Coil, Loners, Joel Gion (BJM), Sakawa Boys, Colour of Spring, SeiSui, Twin Studies, Sound and Fury, Raveonettes, and Féroces. Shiny winners all.
