1. Live On Air Now DKFM Shoegaze Radio

Pity the fools wot must compete with Slowdive this weekend. I mean, right? Label owners and bands marking calendar 6 to 11 months in advance, plotting official release date. Then the Slowdive tsunami hits, and all boats are swept to shore. We empathize. However, it’s our official job to celebrate all the quality new releases, this and every day. So we’ll celebrate Slowdive’s new self-titled album, their first new music in 22 years. Because it is the headline of the year thus far. But we’ll mix in the leading lights whose only misfortune was scheduling against this mammoth release. The new album from Shelling (Japan) is a perfect case in point. Both delicate and torrential, Shelling continues to push the boundaries of their sound on their freshly-issued third full album. Glorious new music from Soon, She Said (France) carves out all the perfect pop hooks, and bathes them in reverb. The new album from Mountain States is propulsive and tuneful, out now on Coaster Records. Regular listener? You’ll surely know Fazerdaze (NZ). The full Morningside LP is out now, and it’s everything you love about them, pressed down and overflowing. Dream Rimmy (Australia) fulfills all early promise with the new Heavy EP, out now. Day Wave keeps churning out the beach pop confections, and Russia’s Ethica bid for shoegaze stardom through their new single and video, just released. Finally, the new singles from birthdaygirl and Slow Crush deserve (nay, demand) your attention. So let’s pull the cork and celebrate!

Not to neglect last weekend’s new newness, as we’re still pushing Ride, Omega Vague, Todavia, Малыш Камю (Malish Kamu), Subsonic Eye, Afor Gashum, The Cult of Lip, Crystales, Red Rosie, Xeresa, Dama Scout, Softer Still, Sheer, Kindling, Kestrels, Malady of Sevendials and Darkswoon. PACKED. IN. TIGHT.

New Tracks Weekend kicks off 8 pm Eastern, 5 pm Pacific, and continuing through Sunday at midnight Eastern, 9 Pacific. It’s the first weekend we’ll spin some of these tracks, and may be the last weekend for some others. Remember, you can listen listen via the station page at DKFM,  on Shoutcast, and on TuneIn Radio for iPhone/Android/Windows. Plus we have our branded apps for Apple’s iOSAndroid and Blackberry. Or load up the “Internet Radio” tab of your iTunes desktop client, and you’ll find DKFM Shoegaze Radio under ‘Alternative’. You can even keep up with the new tracks and artists you may have missed, as we’re live-tweeting every track on our sub-Twitter DKFMTracks account. Now you’ll know what you heard, or catch up on what you missed. Keep up with our new Facebook group for real-time discussions of what you’ve heard, and sound off!

And, as always, thanks for listening, and thank you for your support!

Overpacked again. We’re shoveling as much new music into a weekend as we can, and it’s a fully international effort. We’re long on three new LPs: Los Marcianos, Surf Curse, and Hariguem Zaboy. If we stopped there, good enough for government work. But that’s not us. We’ve got new music from Chilindra, Moth to the Flame, All in the Golden Afternoon, Bliss Wrecks, Visiting Diplomats, Orchin, Housing Crash, Battery Point, Vansire, Fawns of Love, Crumb, Exiles, Fazerdaze, and the station’s newest bandcrush, D.C.’s brilliantly textured Venn, brought to our attention by Amber and When The Sun Hits. Slip slide away with us, we’ve got you, and won’t let you crash.

But that’s not all! We’re still pushing LLLL, The Stargazer Lilies, Blonde Tongues, Andrew Younker, Dot Dash, Blue Bombay, Moon Loves Honey, Fools Ferguson, Human Colonies, Citrus Clouds, Soft Lashes, Manorlady, Cherry Crush, Monster Movie, Sadfields, The Churchill Garden and Walking Misery. As usual, more music than time.

We are well ready for the weekend. And this weekend’s New Tracks Weekend is sure to please. We’re discovering Germany’s Dress, and wondering how we’d missed them all this time. A dreamy and passionate cocktail of jangle and reverb that’s sure to grab your attention. Plus we’ve got the newest music from Did You Die, Fazerdaze, The Great Artiste, Future Age, Dead Leaf Echo, Shoreline Is, Soft Science, The Luxembourg Signal, plus choice cuts from Saint Marie Records’ Static Waves 4 compilation, and TBTCI’s Pale Saints tribute compilation. Shiny.

But that’s not all! We’re still deep into Jay Som, Drawing Water, Crescendo, Lights That Change, Bluelily, Simmer, Gleemer, Vet Trip, Intenna, Folie a Deux, INHEAVEN, Elora, Alpha du Centaure, E8, Ghost Lake and so much more. I don’t know if we have enough time in the weekend to entertain you with all of this.

We’re still shoveling in the sparkly new sounds and 3x world premieres! We kick off with a remix/reimagined world premiere from Introflirt, available later this weekend via Bandcamp. Another world premiere from The Common Men, with their unique burning post-punk/shoegaze fire. We follow up with world premiere music from Blackpool Astronomy, just signed to TBTCI Records (congrats all!), Perth, Australia’s FAIT, Portland’s Tender Age (now on tour), Austin’s dreamy Ultraviolet, the impressive return of Portland’s Is/Is, the jaw-dropping new EP from Doncaster’s 93millionmilesfromthesun (sure to be a rotation staple), a crush of new singles from Japan’s Plant Cell, recent dreamy classics from New Zealand’s Fazerdaze, new music from Ukraine’s LEΛVE, plus Night School, Jet Trash, Dott, No Honeymoon (released this morning!), Wunder Wunder, Daguerrotype, Voices from Deep Below, Tibican, Voluptuous Panic, Teenage Daydreams, Backward Houses, The Virgance, and The Master of Inane Conversation. The cherry on top is The White Cascade, whose long-player, Endless, drops 9/7 on Deep Space Recordings. This a woozy whirlwhind of sound that’ll have you checking your dosage. Probably our out-of-nowhere surprise of the year. Finally, we’re able to get the impressive songwriting talent Hazel English on our air.
