The Malady of Sevendials

An embarrassment of riches. This week’s haul of new musical treasures is pretty big, even by our standards. This weekend we feature two new singles from The Malady of Sevendials, who cut a huge figure at last year’s Seagaze Festival (pictured above, image copyright Chris Schanz Photography). We’ll see if these impressive musicians don’t earn a place in your heart as well. But we’ve got so much more. New singles from Blushing, Swirlpool, Bloom Waves, dethgaze, Fourth Way, Gliss, The Love Agenda, Knifeplay, Creature in the Spiral, Magic Love, and Prince Bunny kick off the festivities. Plus we dive a little deeper into the back catalog of Prince Bunny, so’s we can feel properly caught up. New EPs from Float Down the Liffey, Shoe Shine Six, Twin Oaks (familiar to our listeners, but now with a stripped-down performance that may take your breath away), and the new Part Time Punks Session from Death Valley Rally support the proceedings. We’ll go deep into the new album from The Voices, as Dark Waters is a release that so many fans have waited years for, and it doesn’t disappoint. Finally, we dig deep into the back catalogue of Magnet School, and we take a peek at the upcoming Fuzz Club Records’ critically beloved Reverb Conspiracy series, rolling out Volume 5 later this month, and including such luminaries as Dead Vibrations, Helicon, and Black Heart Death Cult. We’re locked and loaded.

And that was a long-arse paragraph. But there’s so much to cover. And that’s only adding to last weekend’s new sounds, including COSme, Geowulf, Lillet Blanc, Softspot, The Churchill Garden, Neaux, Candy, Mary’s Restless Dream, and Caramel Snow. We’ll launch the new year right.

New Tracks Weekend kicks off 8 pm Eastern, 5 pm Pacific, and continuing through Sunday at midnight Eastern, 9 Pacific. It’s the first weekend we’ll spin some of these tracks, and may be the last weekend for some others. Remember, you can listen listen via the station playlist page at DKFM,  on Shoutcast, and on TuneIn Radio for iPhone/Android/Windows. Plus we have our branded apps for Apple’s iOSAndroid and Blackberry: listeners can vote thumbs-up/thumbs-down on all the new tracks, helping us determine what graduates to permanent rotation. Your voice counts! Or load up the “Internet Radio” tab of your iTunes desktop client, and you’ll find DKFM Shoegaze Radio under ‘Alternative’. You can even keep up with the new tracks and artists you may have missed, as we’re live-tweeting every track on our sub-Twitter DKFMTracks account. Now you’ll know what you heard, or catch up on what you missed. Keep up with our new Facebook group for real-time discussions of what you’ve heard, and sound off!

And, as always, thanks for listening, and thank you for your support!

Didn’t get the gear you wanted at Christmas? We’ve got it!

Still recovering from last weekend’s epic Seagaze festival, but we’ve spent most of the week combing through all the impressive new submissions for New Tracks Weekend, and we’re packed. Obviously we’re pushing the new single from Ride, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. We’re deep into the new albums from Omega Vague, Todavía, Малыш Камю (Malish Kamu), Subsonic Eye and Afor Gashum, plus the new singles from the Cult of Lip (new album and video soon!), Crystales, Red Rosie, Xeresa, Dama Scout, Softer Still, plus the new split EP from station favorites Kindling and Kestrels (someone got the best “K” bands together and said, “hey, let’s do a split!”?), the new Psychic Quarry EP from SHEER, the new extended play from Sustains, and we catch up with Darkswoon and Malady of Sevendials, fresh from their Seagaze Festival performances.

Speaking of which, we’re still pushing the full LP from Fotoform, who put on a sparkly performance for Seagaze attendees. Plus we’re still heavy-dropping tracks from Bugjar (most buzzed track last weekend, hands down), DIV I DED, Northeastern Railroads, Flowerbomb, LLOLLYANNA, Static Daydream, The Infinite Seas, and The Investment. All of the newness.
