We’ve got a deep bench this weekend, and we’re thrilled to share our bounty with you. Headliners include Sun’s Signature, the new Elizabeth Fraser project causing much buzz, Panda Riot and New Age Healers, both having released unexpected singles today (and both cannot be missed), and Ursula (pictured above), a band from Perth that’s made big waves on regional radio/Triple J, but now seem poised for international fame… imagine if you will a modern Pity Sex, with slightly less trailing emo influence, and you’re in the ballpark. We’ve become huge fans relatively overnight. But that’s just the topline frontline. Oakland dreampop band Parallel is laying a foundation for next release, as they’ve got all the tools to impress. Fleuro from Indonesia is the real deal, with arrangements to match their aspirations. Amsterdam project Zooey may follow a Jay Som template, but takes the sound in new and unexpected directions. We’re also celebrating new sounds from Startographers, Mint Julep, Alone at Home, Garage Sale, Stellar Ruins, Magic Wands, witherbride, Today’s Production, MILLY, Glitter Assasin, Silver Liz, Airhockey, Gentle Heat, Loop, SLIDE, Rose Brokenshire, Jesse D’Kora, Sillas and SO much more. No joke, we’re packed.

And that’s in addition to last weekend’s fresh sonic injections, including Young Prisms, Astragal, Whimsical, Moodlighting, Say Sue Me, An Ocean of Embers, Bathe Alone, CIEL, Mint Julep, FOG, Cigarette In Your Bed, Inoxidables, Faience Knife, crystal meadows, Jōetsu Shore , GRAE, Forever Honey, Lesser Care, Justine Never Knew The Rules, Lunar Isles, Mope Burn, oddnesse, No Suits in Miami, XO, Quali, Slow Glows, The Asteroid No.4, Still, White Flowers, The Haunted Youth, Principe Valiente and more. We’ve got the whole weekend covered, day or night.

New Tracks Weekend is launched at 8 pm Eastern, 5 pm Pacific, and continues through Sunday at midnight Eastern, 9 Pacific. It’s the first weekend we’ll spin some of these tracks, and may be the last weekend for some others. Remember, you can listen listen via the station playlist page at DKFM, on Icecast, and on TuneIn Radio for iPhone/Android/Windows. Limited beta: we’re now up on Mixcloud Live, website AND app, if that’s a thing you’d dig. Plus we have our branded apps for Apple’s iOS and Android: listeners can vote on all the new tracks, helping us determine what graduates to permanent rotation. Your voice counts! We’re live-scrobbling once again via last.fm. Now you’ll know what you heard, or catch up on what you missed. Keep up with our new Facebook group for some real-time discussions of what you’ve heard, and sound off!

And, as always, thanks for listening, and thank you for your support.

Whimsical – Melt

Two years on from the release of their last album, Bright Smiles & Broken Hearts, DKFM favourites and shoegaze pals Whimsical are back with their new LP, Melt. The band, Krissy Vanderwoude (words) and Neil Burkdoll (music), gave us a taster of what was to come with the single ‘Gravity' last summer. With my appetite truly whetted I was ready for the album to land and here it is. So, […]
