Speaking of infectious transmission… we’ve got a stellar sonic weekend to roll out this weekend. Wall-to-wall stars (and ought to be stars, in a better world than we inhabit), many impeccable songs. Of course our headliner is today’s album release from Piroshka, reviewed here. But we’re keen to introduce our listeners to so much more, including Lithia (pictured above). Introduced to us by a listener, and a Bandcamp/Last FM follower, they’re a Chicago-based band that by all rights ought to be huge already, but pandemic chaos has limited their exposure (save for a recent Tiny Desk concert). We’re here to ensure that their debut EP reaches as many ears as possible. But there’s so much more…

We’re leaning into the new singles from Mad Honey, Film School, Grazer, Ethics, Beabadoobee, Fever Cult, April June, Lightfoils, Relay Tapes, T. G. Shand (premiered here), Stomp Talk Modstone, Wynona Bleach and more. We’ll round out the proceedings with standouts from Inertial, NAX, Bryan’s Magic Tears, The Dream is Dead, Massage, urbanation, The Lions Constellation, Ghost Tail, Bandom Lyons, Sugar Candy Mountain, Minaxi, The Armed, plant cell, and all the quality we can gather in the last remaining hours, to keep you entertained.

And that’s in addition to last weekend’s fresh sonic injections, including Faience Knife, Valley Palace, Lucid Express, No Luck, Desperate Journalist, A Place To Bury Strangers, Superbloom, Tashaki Miyaki, The Blue Herons, Supertwin, The Boo Radleys, Detects, FLDPN, Lyndsie Alguire, Cold Heaven, Zed Point, Luster Dust, STEREOSKOP, Tycho, Nik Brinkman, Spirit and the Cosmic Heart, Ulrich Schnauss & Mark Peters, Jesse D’Kora, and a boatload of fresh sounds vying for your attention. Join us on the cutting edge, as we celebrate all the brilliant new releases.

New Tracks Weekend is launched at 8 pm Eastern, 5 pm Pacific, and continues through Sunday at midnight Eastern, 9 Pacific. It’s the first weekend we’ll spin some of these tracks, and may be the last weekend for some others. Remember, you can listen listen via the station playlist page at DKFM, on Icecast, and on TuneIn Radio for iPhone/Android/Windows. Limited beta: we’re now up on Mixcloud Live, website AND app, if that’s a thing you’d dig. Plus we have our branded apps for Apple’s iOS and Android: listeners can vote on all the new tracks, helping us determine what graduates to permanent rotation. Your voice counts! We’re live-scrobbling once again via last.fm. Now you’ll know what you heard, or catch up on what you missed. Keep up with our new Facebook group for some real-time discussions of what you’ve heard, and sound off!

And, as always, thanks for listening, and thank you for your support

Premiere: T. G. Shand – “Lemony”

No, not "Lemmy", that's Motörhead. "Lemony". It's like a fresh lemon tart with powdered sugar sprinkled generously on top. Coming from T. G. Shand, formerly of station standouts Miniatures, but now a solo songwriting powerhouse, it's another impressive chapter in a fresh and surprising sonic evolution. The first new single since February's "The Ease", it's got so many engaging elements competing for your ear, and it's all sonic sugar. Guitar […]
