The Bandcamp fund set up to help defray medical expenses for Danny Lackey, the recently departed co-founder of the venerable “When the Sun Hits” blog, has an incredible number of standout tracks. With contributions from established veterans and newcomers alike, a number of these tracks have found their way into our rotation, and we’ve been promoting the charitable effort on air and online.

Perhaps the most fitting tribute was penned, recorded and added to the collection by Andrew Saks of Sway. Amid impressive tracks by The Sunshine Factory, Astrobrite, Panda Riot, Drowner, Purple Bloom, and Her Vanished Grace, this one stands out as a memorial tribute, even a sendoff of sorts, for a man who meant so much to so many.

With characteristic synth wash and ringing guitar, “Stars Will Light Your Way” is a lush prayer and hymn. Sway has captured the essence of the project, distilled it, and sprinkled it with magic dust. A truly worthy farewell.
