The Malady of Sevendials

An embarrassment of riches. This week’s haul of new musical treasures is pretty big, even by our standards. This weekend we feature two new singles from The Malady of Sevendials, who cut a huge figure at last year’s Seagaze Festival (pictured above, image copyright Chris Schanz Photography). We’ll see if these impressive musicians don’t earn a place in your heart as well. But we’ve got so much more. New singles from Blushing, Swirlpool, Bloom Waves, dethgaze, Fourth Way, Gliss, The Love Agenda, Knifeplay, Creature in the Spiral, Magic Love, and Prince Bunny kick off the festivities. Plus we dive a little deeper into the back catalog of Prince Bunny, so’s we can feel properly caught up. New EPs from Float Down the Liffey, Shoe Shine Six, Twin Oaks (familiar to our listeners, but now with a stripped-down performance that may take your breath away), and the new Part Time Punks Session from Death Valley Rally support the proceedings. We’ll go deep into the new album from The Voices, as Dark Waters is a release that so many fans have waited years for, and it doesn’t disappoint. Finally, we dig deep into the back catalogue of Magnet School, and we take a peek at the upcoming Fuzz Club Records’ critically beloved Reverb Conspiracy series, rolling out Volume 5 later this month, and including such luminaries as Dead Vibrations, Helicon, and Black Heart Death Cult. We’re locked and loaded.

And that was a long-arse paragraph. But there’s so much to cover. And that’s only adding to last weekend’s new sounds, including COSme, Geowulf, Lillet Blanc, Softspot, The Churchill Garden, Neaux, Candy, Mary’s Restless Dream, and Caramel Snow. We’ll launch the new year right.

New Tracks Weekend kicks off 8 pm Eastern, 5 pm Pacific, and continuing through Sunday at midnight Eastern, 9 Pacific. It’s the first weekend we’ll spin some of these tracks, and may be the last weekend for some others. Remember, you can listen listen via the station playlist page at DKFM,  on Shoutcast, and on TuneIn Radio for iPhone/Android/Windows. Plus we have our branded apps for Apple’s iOSAndroid and Blackberry: listeners can vote thumbs-up/thumbs-down on all the new tracks, helping us determine what graduates to permanent rotation. Your voice counts! Or load up the “Internet Radio” tab of your iTunes desktop client, and you’ll find DKFM Shoegaze Radio under ‘Alternative’. You can even keep up with the new tracks and artists you may have missed, as we’re live-tweeting every track on our sub-Twitter DKFMTracks account. Now you’ll know what you heard, or catch up on what you missed. Keep up with our new Facebook group for real-time discussions of what you’ve heard, and sound off!

And, as always, thanks for listening, and thank you for your support!

Didn’t get the gear you wanted at Christmas? We’ve got it!

It’s Brief Candles week. With all the newness we’ve shoveled into the big weekend, Brief Candles’ new LP stands head and shoulders above the rest, and not just because it seems we’ve waited forever for it. So we’ll be celebrating that release this weekend, and many weeks to come. But we have so much more on offer. The new EP from Japan’s CQ shows a return to epic form. We’ve got choice cuts from the new Percolator album that’ll bend your mind. Fresh tracks from Evening Glow, Haunter, Everything Fades, Glitter Trails, DoZzz, WY, The BV’s, submeet, Misty Coast, Hexagrams, Crown of Pity, A Thousand Hours, XO, Amusement Parks on Fire, Pastel Ruins, Blushing, Pink Milk, Flower Crown, Wrip, and so much more.

Not to ignore last weekend’s new music, including Aerofall, Sadfields, The Medicine, Small Planets, The Luxembourg Signal, Slow Glows, My Proper Skin, mi andromeda, Winter, Pony Fringe, GYHT, Bur, Breaking Forms, and The Legendary House Cats. All weekend, packed in.

We’ve survived a major software upgrade at the network, so that we can bring you the freshest, shiniest sounds. We roll out the sparkly, compelling debut from Austin’s Blushing, already causing commotion in these studios. We couldn’t recommend them more highly. We’ve got newborn sounds from The Stargazer Lilies, Manisnotabird (used to be Man is Not a Bird, so that’ll cause some head-scratching), Ummagma, Group Photos, Waterfall, Brisbane’s grungy Figures, Tel Aviv’s Screens 4 Eyes, plus we finally get hands ’round the new LPs from Last Movement and Daughter, we catch up with Two Harbors, Black Pill and more. We can melt this beautiful mess down into pure gold.

Let’s not forget last weekend’s new treasures, including Creepoid, Tears Run Rings, The Marbles Jackson, Mood Dye, Rachel Sermanni, Sorry Escalator, June Parker, Sonic Visions, nyre, Soviet Soviet, Is Bliss, The Tunnels, Glass Horses, Velvet Dreams, Whimsical, Car Crash Sisters, The City Gates, and 93MillionMilesFromTheSun. Full of sparkle.
