The Calm After the Storm…

Yes, we spun a new configuration of New Tracks Weekend last weekend, but given all the events of last weekend (Kalamashoegazer, Panda Riot/Brief Candles/Lightfoils, Slowdive), we didn’t properly promote the new material. Yes, you are all due a travelogue on last week’s epic midwestern swing by DKFM staff, but we’re holding off until the edited video evidence of our journey comes in. We say all that to say this: fresh tracks last weekend, fresher tracks this weekend. Here’s our star roster: Kindling, Cave Shine, Glaare, Heaters, Demur, Wind Along The Coast, Blush, Processions, Miners (formerly of Pala, now lost in some geography-deficient but reverb-laden locale), Vansire, Curelight Wounds (sneak preview, everyone!), Car Crash Sisters, Ghost Noise, Broken Little Sister, Cherry Coloured, Fragile Animals, Dim, Black Books, Silver Liz, Autumn (US) and a great deal more we’ve likely just forgotten to include. Woe is us, living on the edge like that.

Not to ignore the previous weekend’s new music, including Aerofall, Sadfields, The Medicine, Small Planets, The Luxembourg Signal, Slow Glows, My Proper Skin, mi andromeda, Winter, Pony Fringe, GYHT, Bur, Breaking Forms, and The Legendary House Cats. All weekend, packed in.

New Tracks Weekend kicks off 8 pm Eastern, 5 pm Pacific, and continuing through Sunday at midnight Eastern, 9 Pacific. It’s the first weekend we’ll spin some of these tracks, and may be the last weekend for some others. Remember, you can listen listen via the station playlist page at DKFM,  on Shoutcast, and on TuneIn Radio for iPhone/Android/Windows. Plus we have our branded apps for Apple’s iOSAndroid and Blackberry: listeners can vote thumbs-up/thumbs-down on all the new tracks, helping us determine what graduates to permanent rotation. Your voice counts! Or load up the “Internet Radio” tab of your iTunes desktop client, and you’ll find DKFM Shoegaze Radio under ‘Alternative’. You can even keep up with the new tracks and artists you may have missed, as we’re live-tweeting every track on our sub-Twitter DKFMTracks account. Now you’ll know what you heard, or catch up on what you missed. Keep up with our new Facebook group for real-time discussions of what you’ve heard, and sound off!

And, as always, thanks for listening, and thank you for your support!

Roogaze, Psychfest, New Tracks Weekend. Wherever you are on this big crazy planet we call home, rest assured we will entertain you with fresh new sounds all day and all night*. We’re long on new music from Mexico’s Car Crash Sisters, who’ve finally dropped their new EP, ‘The Crystal Garden’. We’ll also go deep with new releases from Shana Falana, Dream Suicides, Loners and Cheatahs. The NTW time machine will revisit recent releases from Haunted Hearts and Regular John, plus we’ll shovel in the new singles from Kigo, Lights That Change, White Walls, Casting Circles, New Candys, The California Death and Sonic Jesus. Finally, we’ll go deep in the weeds with Weed. Yeah, we just went there.

Let’s not forget our newest releases from Elizabeth Colour Wheel, Dear Tracks, Californian Sleepovers, Dreamwave, Memory Clinic, Midwest Moms, Luke Johnson, Nic Hessler, Late Night Jazz, Nai Harvest, Heat-Ray and a metric ton more. All the weekend, in one weekend. That doesn’t even make sense.

8 pm Eastern, 5 pm Pacific, and continuing through Sunday at midnight Eastern, 9 Pacific. It’s the first weekend we’ll spin some of these tracks, and may be the last weekend for some others. Live365 listeners: it’s your votes that count! Your thumbs-up / thumbs down ratings determine what is kept in permanent rotation. Listen via the Live365 station page at DKFM, on iTunes Internet Radio under “Eclectic”, and on TuneIn Radio for iPhone/Android/Windows. Latin America relay: try Radio Terra. And still commercial-free everywhere! You can even keep up with the new tracks and artists you may have missed: we’re live-scrobbling via our last.fm profile. Now you’ll know what you heard, or catch up on what you missed.

Roogaze 2015: WIN THE WORLD.

*Our network carrier will be doing minor upgrades starting 8 pm PDT on Saturday. Listeners may experience temporary service disruptions until service completed four hours later.

This weekend we’re proud to prominently feature pre-release Strata Florida, from the upcoming Static Waves 3 compilation, due just over a week from now on Saint Marie Records. It’s a glittering jewel that melds her original Swallow colours with shadings from The Cure and Xmal Deutschland, yet remains fully original. Add to this the frenetic energy of Wozniak, the breezy textures of Omega Vague, the return of Mexico’s mighty Car Crash Sisters (proving what we were saying about them all along!), and brand new choice pre-release cuts from Aire Espacial (in our own backyard, no less). Not to be outdone, we’re happy to feature some back catalogue from Japan’s amazing Magic Love, some impressive remixes of Ummagma and Sounds of Sputnik, new Gazar Strips, Klozapin, Vladimir, Glintshake, Sloth Scamper and much, Much, MUCH more.

Flying by the seat of our pants here, as we’re simultaneously co-presenting Be Forest, Tennis System and Desario in Sacramento via LLW Presents and Record Club Sacramento. It’s a party, and probably our biggest event of the year. If you’re anywhere in the area, this is a show you won’t want to miss. We promise magic. And we don’t make that promise lightly.

What’s everyone excited about? If you’re anywhere near our studios, it’s the new album from WL. It’s the new Suā Twins EP. It’s the impressive new single from Yuck. Or the new Tape Waves EP. Or the impressive debut from Pastel Ghost, or the new Aftersun album. So we’ll make sure you are up to date on all the newest, breakingest sounds, plus toss you a new and unreleased track from the upcoming Crisis Arm LP, releasing shortly on Family Time Records, plus an awesome pre-release single from Mexico’s Car Crash Sisters. Heck, you have to stick around for Postiljonen, and new sounds from Soft Shadows, too! Plus newest adds from Tea Leigh & Luke Reed, Possessed Tranquility, Wildhoney, Keep Shelly In Athens, Meeks, a hazy unreleased track from Zeit, brand new tracks from Wild Eyes’ new EP, The Pocket Rockets, Spirits of Leo, Blood Sister, Gauntlet Hair, and some last minute bliss from Lights That Change. Let’s face it, whatever your plans for the weekend, cancel them. You don’t have time.

We roll out the big weekend extravaganza at 8 pm Eastern, 5 Pacific Friday night, and cook it all weekend. Live365 listeners: it’s your votes that count! Your thumbs-up / thumbs down ratings determine what is kept in permanent rotation. For some of these tracks, it’s the last weekend for you to give them some love, or consign them to the dustbin of history. Listen via the Live365 station page at DKFM, on iTunes Radio under “Eclectic”, and on TuneIn Radio and for iPhone/Android/Windows. 5 PM Pacific (8 PM Eastern), til we switch off the lights Sunday night.
