1. Live On Air Now DKFM Shoegaze Radio

We control the weekend. We expedite the awesome. We polish the newness. As anticipated, we’re all over the new release from Brilliant Beast, one of our most anticipated of the year. And, as we also anticipated, they do not disappoint. Did we say anticipated enough? But we also go long with another special release: Star Tropics’ Lost World just dropped, and it’s likely to burn up iPods all summer. This is the sound of summer, and we can’t recommend it enough. But we’re also bumping the long-form release of Grabbel and the Final Cut, now out in its entirety as an LP. We’re also pushing Agent Blå, New Youth, Overlake, Saccades, We, the Pigs, Beach Fossils, Everso, Caterwall (new lineup, modified sound), Guest Directors and so much more. And of course we’re boosting the first new music from The Daysleepers in ages. Both a welcome return to form, and a graduation to the next level, “Creation” is a fuzzy, watery gem. Again, more music than hours in the weekend. We’ll keep you company, day and night.

But we’ve not forgotten last weekend’s fresh freshness, including DEAFCULT, Blankenberge (interview coming soooooon), Shrike, Parábolas del Bosque, The Bilinda Butchers, Black Sea. The Starlight Run. Foxxxy Mulder. Jessica93. uvii (formerly Ultraviolet). Battery Point. Paper Daggers. Houseplants. Ancient Tapes. Marker. All the new. Plus we’re tossing in a rarity: first wave ‘gazers Moving Holiday, with a DKFM remaster of one of their classic tracks. Because we literally couldn’t hold off till the next Classics and Rarities show.

New Tracks Weekend kicks off 8 pm Eastern, 5 pm Pacific, and continuing through Sunday at midnight Eastern, 9 Pacific. It’s the first weekend we’ll spin some of these tracks, and may be the last weekend for some others. Remember, you can listen listen via the station page at DKFM,  on Shoutcast, and on TuneIn Radio for iPhone/Android/Windows. Plus we have our branded apps for Apple’s iOSAndroid and Blackberry: listeners can vote thumbs-up/thumbs-down on all the new tracks, helping us determine what graduates to permanent rotation. Your voice counts! Or load up the “Internet Radio” tab of your iTunes desktop client, and you’ll find DKFM Shoegaze Radio under ‘Alternative’. You can even keep up with the new tracks and artists you may have missed, as we’re live-tweeting every track on our sub-Twitter DKFMTracks account. Now you’ll know what you heard, or catch up on what you missed. Keep up with our new Facebook group for real-time discussions of what you’ve heard, and sound off!

And, as always, thanks for listening, and thank you for your support!

Win your weekend! New Tracks Weekend this weekend brings fresh new tunes from STFU, a supergroup (of sorts) comprised of Dean Garcia (Curve, SPC ECO) and Preston Maddox (Bloody Knives), with a slightly different sound than either of them are traditionally known for, but surely no less compelling. We’re also high on the new release from Man Is Not A Bird, as they sell their souls for gaze ‘n roll, with glorious results. We’re also pushing recent shiny treats from Sentinel, Whyme, The Pleasure Holes, 50FOOTWAVE (Kristin Hersh returns!), Grabbel and the Final Cut, Molly, Novanta, Thorn1, Palare and much more. Super packed, more music than time.

That’s not to forget last week’s fresh treats from The Florist, I Am Your Captain, The Stargazer Lilies (now on tour!), Captions, Whimsical, Heavy Heart, Jay Som, Minor Victories, Movie Brain, White Tulips, Elisabeth Like A Dream, The Pink Elephants, Swellebound, maquinas, and Introflirt. Deep bloody bench, that.

Remember: you get to vote on these tracks via the DKFM app! Thumbs up / thumbs down in the app helps us to know what stays and what goes. You support the station, you shape the sound.

Headliners: we got ’em! This weekend we’re pushing new music into your ears from Lush, The Joy Formidable, Desario (new EP dropped today on Test Pattern Records!), and the long-awaited return of Major Leagues. PLUS: new music from Grabbel and the Final Cut, whose new LP MMXVI is being released track-by-track NOW on Bandcamp, and there’s some real jewels in the mix. Add to that the new release from Jaguwar, a taste of Fog Lake, Magic Mountain, Glaciers’ shiny new single, Karma Shake, Stream, Shinji, Bloom Waves, Champagne for Radio and much more! And as last weekend was full of chaos surrounding the DreamGaze Festival, we’re a tad behind here at DKFM HQ, so don’t be surprised if we’re shuffling in even more as the weekend progresses.

That’s not to neglect Bloody Knives (on tour through the PNW this weekend, catch ’em if you can!), Miniatures, Nite Fields, The Churchill Garden, Choreography, Lost Film, Mallets, Night Shapes, The Dandelion Graves, Spicy Ground Floor, Hellens and more. Because, we have more music than hours to play it. True story.
