1. Live On Air Now DKFM Shoegaze Radio

As we flip the calendar page on another month, we’re packed with the new releases. From Paris, Pencey Sloe (pictured above) bring amazing tunes with post-rock flourishes. Find of the week. From Englishtown, New Jersey, the sparkling Lyons brings the surf jangles with style. The Cherry Wave dropped their new Close EP today, and Oakland’s heavy Solip just yesterday dropped the Without EP . Throw the calendar out, nobody knows what’s happening anymore. Fever Dream explodes all over your radio this weekend, as does Lubec, Tús Nua, DRAINING, Death Bells, Wild Ones, Argrph, Ysgol Sul, Fuzzy Feeling, Plastic Flowers, Vale, shiny psych inflections from Dirty Sidewalks, and brand new singles from Lapse, and Walking Misery. And we’re slightly late to the party on Hold/Transfer new music, Monotronaut’s Gestural EP (dropped last week), and Jekyll (not the hair metal band, but a different one). Plus we can finally shuffle all the gems from Same Century, The Morelings debut LP. D’oh! Can’t overlook today’s release from The Blue Herons, a collaboration between Andy Jossi of The Churchill Down and Krissy Vanderwoude of Whimsical… shimmering. Or today’s new release from Red Rosie, which also serves as a benefit. Red Collier is making music to make others jealous, we’re convinced of it. Wouldn’t be surprised if we forgot a band or five, as we pile in all of the new releases.

That only adds to last week’s haul, including Airiel, Miniatures, Kindling, Lazy Day, Leones, Pink Milk, Poolshop, DoZzz, Medicine (not technically new, but the reissue counts), Tangible Rays, Citrus Clouds, Corasandel, Biltmore Dive, Magic Mountain, Cascadia Fault Line, FireFly, Outward, Bright As Yellow, Close Encounter, Wild Meadows, Plums, Swanhoppers, and Makaras Pen. Overbooked for air.

New Tracks Weekend kicks off 8 pm Eastern, 5 pm Pacific, and continuing through Sunday at midnight Eastern, 9 Pacific. It’s the first weekend we’ll spin some of these tracks, and may be the last weekend for some others. Remember, you can listen listen via the station page at DKFM,  on Shoutcast, and on TuneIn Radio for iPhone/Android/Windows. Plus we have our branded apps for Apple’s iOSAndroid and Blackberry: listeners can vote thumbs-up/thumbs-down on all the new tracks, helping us determine what graduates to permanent rotation. Your voice counts! Or load up the “Internet Radio” tab of your iTunes desktop client, and you’ll find DKFM Shoegaze Radio under ‘Alternative’. You can even keep up with the new tracks and artists you may have missed, as we’re live-tweeting every track on our sub-Twitter DKFMTracks account. Now you’ll know what you heard, or catch up on what you missed. Keep up with our new Facebook group for real-time discussions of what you’ve heard, and sound off!

We kick off with the long awaited full LP from SLC’s No Sun, out today on The Native Sound. We’ve also got hands round the rest of the new release from Taiwan’s Manic Sheep, so we’ll obviously go deep with that. New music in abundance, this weekend is well overbooked! The crowning achievement is the release of the new Tears Run Rings LP, In Surges, which has got us in studio all twitterpated. Their deft touch, their consistent tunefulness remind us why theirs is one of the preeminent voices in the genre, and their occasional absences are really a loss for all of us. We’re also deep the new album from Dead Horse One, a bit more psych-rock than our usual, but their production pedigree (John Loring, Fleeting Joys) demands attention, even if it ultimately delayed a new Fleeting Joys album by a year and a half. But who’s complaining? Oh, right, we are. We’ve got sparkly new sounds from Deafcult, still awaiting more from Australia’s champions. The new EP from Galants, compelling tracks from Japan’s Scale, new singles from The Cherry Wave, Heavy Heart, The Kathys, and Slowly. We’ve primed choice cuts from the new Wedding Present LP, released today on vinyl in the U.S., and some of their most riveting tracks in a decade. We’re trotting out Cosmic Child, Bruising, Tonemirror, Portal de la Muerte, and much more.

Not to neglect last weekend’s fresh haze, including Vestidos, Mosaicz, Versus People, Melt, Lazy Legs, Hideous Towns, Housing Crash, Bloodhounds On My Trail, Drab Majesty, The Churchill Garden, Last Leaf Down, Whimsical, Cuesta Loeb, and SMR’s Static Waves compilation. We’re well booked!
