Top listeners:
DKFM The buzzing in your ears is completely natural.
We’re more dense-packed than last weekend, as quality new releases (and one classic reissue) came through so furiously it was hard to keep up. First among equals: Her New Knife. An EP of only four songs, but there’s not a false step here. While some (even this weekend) release an album or EP with “interludes”, Her New Knife cuts right to the heart of the matter, all killer, no filler. This week also sees several long-awaited releases in our studios: doused, Misty Coast, Sloe Noon, and Sasha and the Valentines rise to the occasion. A special (and quite unexpected) premiere from Postcards is an honor to trot out for our listeners… this Beirut, Lebanon band performed a breakout set for our DreamGaze Worldwide Festival. Then a blast rocked Beirut, changing lives for many. “home is sad” is the one of the first songs they’ve written since the event, based on Philip Larkin’s poem of the same name, taking stock of where a community is in the aftermath. You’ll be hearing more about this one, as a video to accompany release is forthcoming, and likely to be more than a little heartrending.
And that’s just the topline. We’ve got so much more that deserves your attention this weekend. New music from Death Hags, Blue Ocean, After Daylight, Still Dreams, Bloom 604, Sunspire, Bizou, Lemondaze, Carbon Memory, Martes Niebla, Lesser Care, Shine, Lombraless, THALA, Tombstones In Their Eyes, Velvet Sunset, the nervous girls, Tannhauser Orchestra, Shallow Waves (premiered here), THALA, Silvermash, The Dead and Downright Queer, skilda världar and so much more. And we’re deep into a reissue of classic 90’s tracks from Emperor of Ice Cream that’ll bring those old feels rushing back.
And that’s in addition to last weekend’s fresh sonic injections, including Kekko, Faience Knife, April June, Peach Gardens, Sleepwalk, Submotile, White Ring, The Churchhill Garden, Oh Well Goodbye, Sun Shines Cold, Lavender Blush, Ghosttail, Kid Tigrrr, Greenhouse, Cold Heaven, Guest Directors, Candy, Distant Images, Gergasi Api, and Drug Store Romeos. Because we have more music than weekend.
New Tracks Weekend is launched at 8 pm Eastern, 5 pm Pacific, and continues through Sunday at midnight Eastern, 9 Pacific. It’s the first weekend we’ll spin some of these tracks, and may be the last weekend for some others. Remember, you can listen listen via the station playlist page at DKFM, on Icecast, and on TuneIn Radio for iPhone/Android/Windows. Plus we have our branded apps for Apple’s iOS and Android: listeners can vote on all the new tracks, helping us determine what graduates to permanent rotation. Your voice counts! We’re live-scrobbling once again via last.fm. Now you’ll know what you heard, or catch up on what you missed. Keep up with our new Facebook group for some real-time discussions of what you’ve heard, and sound off!
And, as always, thanks for listening, and thank you for your support!
