Turn of the calendar, and we aren’t overburdened by artists trying to get new material in under the wire… it’s the perils of being on the bubble, literally the waning moments of 2022. No matter. We’ve got fresh tracks, including some we’ve overlooked in the past year, and we’re anxious to share what we’ve got. Headliners this weekend include Sweden’s Loom (pictured above), whose fresh single release got us a rabbit-hole dive into the back catalogue, and we’re the better for it (thx Ale for the nudge). We’re also gutted by the power of Denmark’s Vrangvendt, whose new single (not yet on Bandcamp) is a primal cry, somewhere between shedfromthebody’s epic doomgaze and Alison Shaw’s claustrophobia. We’re thrilled and captivated by the new Mint Julep, ruinedchurch, Shadowcaller and password:password releases, the debut from India’s Long Distances, and we’re also pretty keen on the new releases from Moscow’s Сара и Джон Коннор and Edinburgh’s Hampi. And we’re pretty satisfied with the total presentation.
And that’s in addition to last weekend’s fresh sonic injections, including Fever Cult, The Churchhill Garden (featuring The City Gates), Cor de Lux, With Glee, Tokyo Tea Room, Some Sprouts, tearbound, Les Manteez, Dial Tone, BrokenTeeth, Adi Alam, Heaven’s Cloak and so much more. We’ve got the year’s end covered like a blanket.
New Tracks Weekend is launched at 8 pm Eastern, 5 pm Pacific, and continues through Sunday at midnight Eastern, 9 Pacific. It’s the first weekend we’ll spin some of these tracks, and may be the last weekend for some others. Remember, you can listen listen via the station playlist page at DKFM, on Icecast, and on TuneIn Radio for iPhone/Android/Windows. Limited beta: we’re now up on Mixcloud Live, website AND app, if that’s a thing you’d dig. Plus we have our branded apps for Apple’s iOS and Android: listeners can vote on all the new tracks, helping us determine what graduates to permanent rotation. Your voice counts! We’re live-scrobbling once again via last.fm. Now you’ll know what you heard, or catch up on what you missed. Keep up with our new Facebook group for some real-time discussions of what you’ve heard, and sound off!
It's a holiday weekend, so we're not overbooked with new releases (artists aren't rushing out new material in the last week of the year). Even so, we've got the new, and even one crucial release from 2021 that escaped our attention, but deserves more recognition. We're spinning up the latest from Fever Cult, The Churchhill Garden (featuring The City Gates), Cor de Lux (pictured above), as well as new sounds […]
